Beatrix is born!
We’ve decided to write a blog to document our experience of owning a Campervan. We want to use this blog as somewhere we can keep memories of places we have been and hopefully give some recommendations to you guys!
So in May 2020 (during lockdown) we took the plunge and bought a van! Since I can remember I have always wanted a Campervan – mainly a cute little old VW that you imagine. I’ve always liked the idea of a travelling home and escaping at any chance possible. So after a lot of discussions and doing our research into different types of vans, ones already converted, converting one ourselves, commissioning conversions etc, we decided to buy a Ford transit custom. After looking around on the internet we decided to go with an ex AA van – bright yellow! And eventually found our Beatrix.
Now, neither of us have ever converted a van before or are even that good at DIY so we looked into finding professional converters. We wanted something that was home from home, with wooden furnishing and all the essentials we would need – something a bit different. We found a ‘father & son’ company called Shelta campers & conversions and really liked their work. We got in touch and visited their workshop to see a finished van and we just loved it! So we got our Beatrix booked in! They also recommended a place to fit our pop top roof prior to the conversion.
So this is where we are at currently. Beatrix is in the safe hands of our converters and we are awaiting the call to pick her up to begin our adventures! Were already planning our first trip away! Follow us on our adventures!
